Poem: Fate and Fortune

I was an ugly duckling for most of my life.

I was a late bloomer that returned

back to awkward nerdy

with a snap of the fingers,

back to the drawing board hum.

Back to Jane Eyre.

Back to step one.

If everything is a circle

than it has just begun, again.

I was your muse and you were mine

Many a thousand more times

I’ll love you always

and how I’ve memorized

every shade of detail.

I’ll recognize you again

in every fragment of love

as if implored by destiny.
